'“Swift and Dickinson both descend from a 17th century English immigrant (Swift’s 9th great-grandfather and Dickinson’s 6th great-grandfather who was an early settler of Windsor, Connecticut),” Ancestry shared with TODAY.'

Windsor, Connecticut is 44 miles from Amherst, Mass. :
'Plath was clinically depressed for most of her adult life, and was treated multiple times with early versions of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).[3] She ended her own life [at age 31] in 1963.'
'Plath's gravestone has been repeatedly vandalized by those aggrieved that "Hughes" is written on the stone; they have attempted to chisel it off, leaving only the name "Sylvia Plath".[83] When Hughes' mistress Assia Wevill died by suicide and killed their four-year-old daughter Shura in 1969, this practice intensified. After each defacement, Hughes had the damaged stone removed, sometimes leaving the site unmarked during repair.[84]'
“‘It’s Sylvia—it’s because of her,’” Wevill records him telling her: “Ted drunk—stroking my shoulder. The terrible talk in the ‘lounge’ of the Elm Hotel.” [1] The next day, Wevill went to Haworth, the village up the road where the Brontës lived and wrote and died, and bought Seconal sleeping pills from the druggist. Two days later, she dragged a mattress into the kitchen and killed herself and Shura in London flat.'
Emily Dickenson asked that an Emily Brontë poem be read at her funeral.
'Fame is a fickle food
Upon a shifting plate
Whose table once a
Guest but not
The second time is set
Whose crumbs the crows inspect
And with ironic caw
Flap past it to the
Farmer’s corn
Men eat of it and die.’
- Emily Dickenson
- Quoted by Anne Brontë
'No coward soul is mine,
No trembler in the world's storm-troubled sphere:
I see Heaven's glories shine,
And faith shines equal, arming me from Fear.
O God within my breast,
Almighty, ever-present Deity!
Life - that in me hast rest,
As I - Undying Life- have power in Thee!
Vain are the thousand creeds
That move men's hearts, unutterably vain;
Worthless as withered weeds
Or idlest froth amid the boundless main,
To waken doubt in one
Holding so fast by Thine infinity;
So surely anchored on
The steadfast rock of immortality.
With wide-embracing love
Thy Spirit animates eternal years,
Pervades and broods above,
Changes, sustains, dissolves, creates and rears
Though Earth and moon were gone,
And suns and universes ceased to be,
And Thou wert left alone,
Every Existence would exist in Thee.
There is not room for Death,
Nor atom that his might could render void:
Thou - Thou art Being and Breath,
And what Thou art may never be destroyed.'

Tortured poet the Cure: 'Pictures of You':
'For years, they lived on the road, and on the run. They fled California after home-schooling their kids in defiance of state law and at times lived in a motel, a trailer park and a Volkswagen. They ran a nudist camp in New Jersey, while Eve renamed herself “Fred” and shaved her head.'
'Their financial problems were, in part, voluntary. Webb rejected an inheritance from his father, donated his book royalties from “The Graduate” to charity and continued to give possessions away, whether houses or art by Andy Warhol. Webb dismissed the idea that he would have been better off had he received a percentage of earnings from the movie of “The Graduate.”'

4/20 was Hitler's birthday and blacks are convicted of marijuana possession at 4 times the rate whites are despite the same rate of usage.
Republican Jack Kerouac, who inspired the Beatles' name and Bob Dylan's 'Desolation Row' learned to smoke 'tea' from black jazz musicians, which helped them to play more relaxedly, and Dylan reportedly got the Beatles to try it at a party in NY City, which influenced 'Rubber Soul'.
Maine legalized recreational Marijuana in a citizens initiative passed using RCV which passed with the help of the band Phish, which drastically reduced Maine's prison overpopulation.
Kerouac died in St Pete at 47 from what people thought were the affects of alcoholism, but now with declassified documents it was revealed the Columbia football team Kerouac was a member of was conscripted to carry the unshielded uranium to the first nuclear pile that first split the atom.
'jack kerouac had a football scholarship to columbia (where he met allen ginsberg and william h burroughs) when the columbia football team had been conscripted to carry the uranium ore to the university's labs'
